Jennifer Anderson joined SDNE in 2004 and is a member of the Rhode Island training group. Her canine partner Toblerone, a.k.a. Toby, is a male Flat coated Retriever who fulfills the breed’s “Peter Pan” outlook on life – it's much to fun and exciting to grow up too fast and life really is good! He has a penchant for water and snow which has played a part in the direction of his training. Jennifer and Toby have participated in specialty Air Scent and Water Search SAR courses including; Marion Hardy’s Water Search Seminars in conjunction with Sauvetage Canada Rescue in Quebec; Jonnie Joyce Water Search Dog Seminar, and NEWSAR area search seminars Susan, SDNE's Secretary, has been working with the team since the fall of 2001. Her partner Jameson was born in January of 2002 and began training on Saint Patrick's Day of that year.
Jasmine is a mixed breedr, born in Middleborough Massachusetts, April 1, 2004. Rick attended his first SDNE training in May 2004 and brought Jasmine to her first training in June 2004. Rick is a Firefighter with the Middleborough Fire Dept. He attended the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy in Stow, MA. He is also an EMT Intermediate with American Medical Response. Suzanne joined SDNE in 1995, with her black lab, Pete, (now retired after 9
yrs. of service).She is now working a German Short Haired Pointer named Mia. Mia was
given to Suzanne for the purpose of doing something with the breed other
than hunting. Mia has passed all of her SDNE level 1 and 2 requirements
and they are now working their way toward the MASSARD Federation hasty
and 40 acre day and night tests.
Joe has been working with the team
since the fall of
2000. His partner Oakley was born on New Year's Eve of that year.
Oakley came
home from Maryland seven weeks later and started his SAR training
that very day. While
concentrating on air-scent work Oakley has training in Human Remains
Detection,
trailing, building searches, article search, and water search.
He has also
rappelled off a 90-foot tower and rides in ski lifts. Outside
of his SAR
activities Oakley attends Agility classes, he has earned his AKC
Canine Good
Citizenship Certificate and is a registered Therapy Dog.
Joyce has been a member of SDNE since 2003. Her partner "Libby", a Border Collie, is certified in Massachusetts in Human Remains Detection. Her other partner "Smitty", a Border Collie also, is certified in Wilderness air scenting. Libby and Smitty's favorite fun activity is chasing the tennis ball. Ed Stachurski
joined SDNE in 2002. Bandit and Ed specialize in
wilderness air-scenting rescue work.
Bob is a Canine Search Specialist with both DHS/FEMA MA-TF1 and RI-TF1 Urban Search & Reacue Disatser teams. He is also the Human Remains Detection Dog Training Director for the Massachusetts Rescue & Recovery K9 Unit (MARK9). K9 Pike K9 Roxy Noah, a black lab, is
a level two SDNE dog and is MASSARDF certified. While certified as an air
scenting wilderness dog, Noah has also had training in
scent-specific trailing, cadaver and water.
Erica started training with the team in the winter of 2007. Her partner Maxwell, a German Shepherd was born 8/16/2005. Maxwell started training in Wilderness Search and Rescue in 2007 and uses his nose to find lost victims via air scenting. Presently Maxwell is in training for both Wilderness and Disaster Search and Rescue. Maxwell attained his Canine Good Citizenship Certificate in the spring of 2008. Sue Webb co-founded Search Dogs Northeast in 1990.
